Reflecting upon Sister Mavis - B. Asbill

As I sit here reflecting upon the current events and the passing of our dear, beloved mother, I sense a mighty song of victory, a great rejoicing and the fellowshipping of the saints that have preceded her arrival into that heavenly throne. But here in this realm of earth, it is tempered as it were with a sense of great sorrow.
I have had the honor and the privilege, by virtue of her grace, of serving behind as well as along side of this dear one, in many places and upon many fields of battle. On more than one occasion, I can say unequivocally that I owe her my life, both spiritually and physically. I know that her prayers, words of counsel and instruction for me over the years, have shaped and molded my sense of righteousness and understanding of the reality of God. The way she lived her life has given me an example to follow, to emulate, and an example of what Jesus Christ must have been like, as He walked the earth. Her passing will have a profound effect upon my life, in addition, the body of Christ at large.
2 Samuel 1:19: The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen! 20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
Let not her sacrifice, the giving of her all, be in vain. Let the thought of her love for Christ, the zeal of her desire to be like Him drive us, be an impetus to obtain that which was withheld from her.
Perhaps like Paul, born out of due season, her position, her calling and election was the laying down of her life daily and now at this time in her last call to arms, to give to us that remain, the opportunity to obtain that position of the high calling in Christ Jesus.
Greater love than this hast no man that he lay down his life for his friend. We now have the potential to use Mavis' life as kind of a rung in a ladder that opens to us another opportunity to climb yet higher into Christ. God help us to have the wisdom and sensitivity as well as the reverence to acknowledge that characteristic that exemplified her life so dedicated to pleasing her savior.
May God bless us all
